Stakeholders have called for prioritising the renewable energy by setting up biogas plants to replace the energies produced from the water resources and forests.

The participants at a one-day regional orientation programme organised by the Ministry of Population and Environment, the Alternate Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) and the Renewable Energy Programme in collaboration with the Kaski District Development Committee insisted adopting renewable energy.

AEPC’S Bikul Shrestha said the biogas or compost manure could be made from decomposable waste and animal faeces and could be sold in the market for self-dependency.

Local Development Officer (LDO), Bal Ram Dhakal, said the farm owners should benefit the most from the renewable energy programme being run by the Government of Nepal under the financial assistance from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
