The Minister for Energy Mahendra Bahadur Shahi on Wednesday has given 10-day ultimatum to consumers to pay their electricity bill due and warned that anyone defying the order won’t be spared.

Speaking at an interaction programme in Kathmandu today, Minister Shahi said no one would be spared including the President’s Office, Prime Minister’s Official Residence and Ministers Quarters. “Failure to clear electricity due would result in power cut,” Shahi clarified.

“Ministry had already made the decision on the same, authorities have been directed to disconnect power supply to household, industries, Ministries failing to pay their electricity due within 10 days,” Minister added.

“If needed be i will go on the field and cut the supply of electricity,”.

Taking the opportunity, Minister Shahi clarified that their is no any misunderstanding with the Nepal Electricity Authority Chief Executive Officer Kul Man Ghising.

He further said, there is no any differences as rumored in the market. “We are committed to a campaign of producing and distributing electricity for bright Nepal,” Shahi clarified.

Minister Shahi also declared that the Ministry is planning to declare Karnali zone as Electricity Tourism in the region after a recent field visit of the area.

Similarly, Minister Shahi also warned the Upper Karnali Hydro Power Project to initiate work within 35 days or their licence would be scrapped.

CPN Maoist Centre Leader Shahi also said compensation to the victims of Budi Gandaki Hydro Power Project would be distributed within this fiscal year.

He warned that the Chinese firm failure to initiate work on stipulated date would result in termination of the contract.
