The Commission for the Investigation of Authority has lodged a case against former general manager of Nepal Electricity Authority Mahendra Lal Shrestha on corruption charge in the Special Court on Monday.

The anti-graft body has charged Shrestha of indulging in corruption worth Rs 28.88 million.

CIAA’s Spokesperson Jibraj Koirala has said the case was lodged demanding maximum action against Shrestha as investigations revealed his unusual lifestyle and he amassed properties from corruption by misusing his official responsibilities.

The CIAA has said the income and property details furnished by Shrestha from his entry in the NEA in 1979 and assuming the responsibility of GM till 2013 were quite contradictory.

The CIAA said that the source of property worth of Rs 28.88 million was not found to be legal.
