Work progress of the three under-construction hydroelectricity projects in Panchthar has reached the final stage.

Madhav Bhurtel, Civil Hydro Power Engineer of the 25 Megawatt Kabeli B1 Hydro Power Project said that 98 per cent of the project was completed.

The hydel project is under construction from Kabeli River flowing from the border of Panchthar and Taplejung.

“As the construction of the project has reached the final stage, we are preparing for the dry test and it will be completed within 15 days,” said Bhurtel.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 4 billion in total. Out of the total, banks are funding 70 per cent of the cost while different persons will be funding the 30 per cent.

Likewise, construction of the under construction 10 Megawatt Iwakhola Hydro Power along the border of Panchthar and Taplejung also has reached the final stage.

Rairang Hydro Power Limited is developing the project, which is expected to be completed by mid-July.

“It will start test generation of power in the third week of July,” said Director Kuber Mani Nepal.

The project is said to have been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.6 billion.

Construction of the 22.2 MW Hewakhola Hydro Power Project also has reached the final stage. “Construction of all the projects will be completed within three months,” said project Manager Ganesh Subba.

Almost 97 per cent of the total construction has been completed so far.

Mountain Hydro Pvt Ltd has been developing the project, which is estimated to cost Rs 3.66 billion. However, those hydro projects have to wait for commercial generation of the power until the 132 KVA electricity transmission line is constructed.
