Aasutosh Energy Pvt Ltd is all set to construct 8.63 megawatt Chepekhola Small Hydropower project in Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality, Lamjung.

Aasutosh Energy Pvt Ltd is preparing to start construction of the project with the beginning of the Nepali New Year. The company had signed Power Purchase Agreement for selling and buying power with Nepal Electricity Authority in May 2017.

The company plans to generate electricity from the hydel within two years. According to the PPA, commercial electricity generation will start in February, 2022.

The dam site of the project will be at Majhigaunbensi of the rural municipality while the power house site will be at Kunakat.

The dam site and powerhouse will be joined by 3,150 metre penstock pipes. The project’s gross head will be 229 metres with two piton turbines in the power house. The annual power generation will be close to 51.57 gigawatt.

The company signed the PPA with Rs 8 per unit power in winter and Rs 4.80 in summer. The estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 1.64 billion.

Power from the hydel will be connected to the national grid through the substation of under-construction in the Dordi corridor.
