At least 90 per cent construction work of the 27 MW Dordikhola Hydro Project in Lamjung has been completed.

The construction work, which started in February 2015, is scheduled to be completed within June of the current fiscal year and is expected to start producing electricity within the next three months (before August 31).

According to Executive Director of Himalayan Power Partner Ltd, Guru Prasad Dhakal, the construction works on the embankment, tunnel and powerhouse have reached the final stage. The project is currently constructing gate at the dam, installing penstock and electromechanical equipment. The project will have 2,770 metres long tunnel and 2,600 metres long penstock pipe.

The project’s dam site is in Dhodeni while the powerhouse is in Chiti of the district.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 4.23 billion, of which 35.7 per cent will be invested by NRN Investment Limited, 34.30 per cent by the IME Group, and 30 per cent will be invested by the locals and public.

According to the power purchase agreement that the project signed with Nepal Electricity Authority, electricity will be sold to NEA at Rs 8.40 per unit in the dry season and at Rs 4. 80 per unit during the monsoon when the project will be working at full capacity.
