Floods triggered by incessant rainfall damaged three under-construction hydropower projects in the Dordi Corridor of Lamjung.

Flood in the Dordi River on July 24 damaged three under-construction projects worth Rs 40 crore.

Director of Liberty Energy Ram Bahadur Pandey said that the under-construction 25-megawatt Upper Dordi Hydropower Project suffered damage due to floods.

He said infrastructure worth Rs 26 crore was damaged. Due to the flood, intake of the dam was filled with sand. Pandey also said the project would be completed within four to five months if the dam was intact.

Similarly, Manager of Super Dordi Hydropower Project Arjun Gautam said flood had damaged infrastructure worth Rs 10 crore. Super Dordi Hydropower Project is expected to generate 54 megawatt electricity. Gautam added that the project would be completed within six to seven months if everything went as planned. He also said that they might have to make changes in the structure of the dam.

Floods have also damaged the under-construction 12-megawatt Dordi Hydro Project. Representatives from an insurance company have reached the site to collect details of the damage.

Managing Director Keshab Bahadur Rayamajhi of Super Dordi Hydropower Project said details of the damage would be made public within one to two weeks. Work has been halted as workers of the projects have left for their houses.
