Kathmandu: Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri said that the delay in the development work is also caused due to weaknesses on the part of the government mechanisms.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 23rd General Assembly of the Federation of Construction Entrepreneurs of Nepal held in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Jhakri said that the failure to complete the development work on time and ensure quality work was also a weakness of the government mechanism.

She said that selection of plans, assurance of resources and effectiveness and accountability of construction entrepreneurs are essential conditions for timely completion of development works.

Stating that it is the responsibility of the concerned government body to regulate the work done by the construction entrepreneurs, Minister Jhakri said that the government mechanisms could not work effectively due to various loopholes in the laws.

Minister Jhankri said that the government is sensitive about the issue of delay in the completion of the government-funded projects. She said that the construction entrepreneurs should be committed to complete the project on time while ensuring quality works.
