The Nepal Army has handed over an 18 km stretch of the ‘11 Kilo Chhepetar Bhaluswara Barpak Road Project’ of Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang Road. The section from Dharche Rural Municipality-7 Hawadanda to Ward No. 3 Dobhan was handed over to the project office on Monday, said Binod Bhatta, technical officer of Nepal Army.

The Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang Road Construction Task Force under the Development and Construction Directorate of the Nepal Army has so far opened 32.5 km of road track. Out of this, an 18 km long section has been handed over to the project. Technical Officer Bhatta handed over the ‘11 Kilo Chhepetar-Bhaluswara-Barpak Road Project’ to Gorkha Office Chief, Pashupati Gyawali. "We have to adjust the grade from 18 to 32.5 km. There is still some work to be done," said Bhatta.

Of the 92 kilometers from Hawadanda to Larke Bhanjyang, 74 kilometers remain to be handed over by the army. A 14.5 km of road track has been opened and about 60 km of road track is yet to be opened.

The army has handed over 18 kilometers of completed road based on the demand of locals and easy access to vehicles. This is the road connecting Gorkha and Tibet.

The road starting from Hawadanda will reach Larkebhanjyang via Lapuveshi, Machakhola, Chumanubriko Jagat, Bihi, Prok, Samagaun and Samdo of Darchre Rural Municipality. This road section will also fall within the Manaslu Conservation Area, passing through the Budhi Gandaki. This road will be connected to Gorkha and Ruila Naka of Tibet once the construction is completed. A 24 ton capacity bailey bridge has also been constructed at Machhakhola of the said road section. When the Chumnubri road network is not connected, the public in North Gorkha has to rely on mules and helicopters even for treatment.
