The government is going to provide Rs 598.68 million as a subsidy through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that the Council of Ministers meeting held on 15 July took this decision.

Narrating the decisions of the Cabinet meeting on Sunday, Minister Karki said that the government has decided to promote Kuldev Thapa, Director of Research of the National Investigation Department, to the post of Additional Chief Research Director.

Minister Karki also said that it has been decided to extend the deadline for financial management of the Upper Karnali Hydropower Project by 2 years from the date of decision by the Council of Ministers.

The price adjustment amount due to infrastructure tax on petroleum products will be provided to Nepal Oil Corporation through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies in the form of a subsidy of Rs 598.68 million.

Due to the price adjustment of petroleum products, Nepal Oil Corporation has insufficient funds to pay Indian Oil Corporation Limited, so the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Nepal will provide Rs 7 billion in loan to Nepal Oil Corporation.

To continue the ban on the import of 10 different items till 30th of August.
