India will be entrusted with the construction of two large hydropower projects in Nepal. In the presence of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, a study committee was formed under the coordination of Investment Board Nepal’s CEO Sushil Bhatta and according to the report of the same committee, the agreement will be signed this evening. The IBN is about to enter into an agreement with the approval of the Council of Ministers.

The MoU is being signed by Bhatta and NHPC Limited Chairman and Managing Director Abhay Kumar Singh. NHPC Limited is an Indian government hydropower board under the ownership of the Ministry of Power.

After scraping the agreement with the Chinese company, the 51st meeting of the IBN decided to entrust the construction of the West Seti Hydroelectric Project with an indicative connected capacity of 750 MW and the Seti River-6 Hydroelectric Project with an indicative connected capacity of 450 MW to the Indian company NHPC.
