Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has unveiled plans to establish a cross-border transmitter line with China through the Rasuwa border. The disclosure was made during his address at the week-long closing program organized by Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan, coinciding with International Youth Day, 2023.

Prime Minister Prachanda shared that the forthcoming visit to China will mark a significant milestone in Nepal-China relations, with the signing of major projects encompassing agriculture, animal husbandry, physical infrastructure, and electricity. Drawing parallels to the existing cross-border transmission line with India, Prachanda expressed confidence in the agreement’s realization, asserting that the Rasuwa border project is poised for formalization during his visit to China.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the venture, the Prime Minister stated, “Just as we have built a cross-border transmitter line with India, we have planned to bring electricity from where we need it and give it there when there is more. Now there will be an agreement with China to build a cross-border transmitter line through the Rasuwa border.”

Amid speculations, Prime Minister Prachanda affirmed his participation in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly, during which he intends to champion Nepal’s development in agriculture, industry, and tourism. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to transformative initiatives, Prachanda revealed plans to address key projects, including the Budhigandaki to Karnali Chisapani corridor, which holds the potential to generate an astounding 10,000 megawatts of electricity from a single project—a feat he believes could usher in a revolutionary economic shift for Nepal.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister underscored his administration’s dedication to good governance, social justice, and prosperity. He unveiled plans to inaugurate an office and lay the foundation stone for the initiation of the old age process. He iterated that efforts are underway to tackle issues directly affecting the people, while striving to eliminate corruption and promote the welfare of marginalized communities.

In a display of diplomatic engagement, Prachanda recounted his discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent visit to India. He announced plans to dispatch a delegation to India for enhanced cooperation in agricultural production, including a mutual agreement to establish a fertilizer factory in Nepal.

The Prime Minister also disclosed that agreements have been reached with India and Bangladesh on hydropower projects, with an official announcement slated for a special ceremony in Kathmandu. Reflecting on international collaborations, Prachanda elaborated on his interactions with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in Italy, where the potential for investments in Nepal’s electricity and agriculture sectors was explored.

Concluding his address with optimism, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his firm belief in Nepal’s potential for turnaround and accelerated development. He proclaimed, “Good governance, lawlessness, and corruption must end in Nepal at all costs, and a program must be brought to bring up the downtrodden communities.”
