Rasuwa Customs Office Timure has released the customs revenue collected in two months of the current financial year.

The increase in revenue is due to import duties on ready-made clothes, shoes, slippers, roll cloth, children’s toys, electronic materials, motor spare parts, small and large vehicles including electric motor cars, hydropower materials, machinery equipment parts, thermos, apples, walnuts, garlic, ginger etc. from China for the Nepali market.

According to Ram Prasad Pathak, Chief Customs Officer of the Customs Office, 5,13,993 million was collected as customs duty for the Chinese goods imported into Nepal through Kerung via Rasuwagadhi crossing in the months of Shrawan and August and deposited in the revenue account.

According to reports, since the recovery target for Shrawan & Bhadra is Rs 1,044.121 million, customs revenue has increased due to an increase in import volume by merchants and an assessment based on the quality of the items in accordance with the norms.

In comparison to Shrawan and Bhadra in 2079/80, revenue has increased greatly this year.

The collection climbed by 29% over the projected estimate in Shrawan & Bhadra of this year.

According to the customs officer, arrangements have been made for speedy inspection on the basis of priority when the goods are brought in by the businessmen.

Similarly, it is said that around 500 Chinese electric cars brought by Nepalese businessmen are gradually being cleared from customs and brought to Kathmandu.
