Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that action will be taken against contractors if the Butwal-Narayangadh section of the East-West Highway is not extended immediately.

Stating that he was very sad to see the condition of the Butwal-Narayangadh road section, he said that he would discuss the issue with all the parties and stakeholders to complete the road as soon as possible.

Finance Minister Mahat, who is also spokesperson for the ruling Nepal Congress, made this remark while speaking at a function organised by the Nepali Congress Nawalpur in Kawasoti on Tuesday.

He said that the work of the model headquarters should not be stopped and he had given necessary instructions to the district administration and the Urban Development Building Division Office to start the construction of the buildings immediately.

He said that the plan of the model headquarters would be taken into a multi-year plan, and Rs. 200 million was allocated for the current fiscal.

He said that he had given direction to construct the necessary buildings from the allocated budget.

He also said that he would fully support to rename Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) district as Nawalpur district. In another context, Dr. Mahat said that the government was not aware of the issue of Ncell's share sale and it had started discussing the issue with stakeholders.

He said that now the economy has started moving on the right track and made it clear that many policy decisions have been made to improve the economy. Minister Dr. Mahat said that some problems were seen in the economy when it takes time to yield results after making investments.

He made it clear that while the loans were disbursed easily, many loans went into land procurement, stock market and crypto too, and the returns were delayed.

He said that the government was trying to provide relief in some sections such as interest and time extension for those who have not got results even after taking loans and investing them in the right places.
