Nepal Electricity Authority has completed the construction of 9 substations for electricity distribution and put them into operation since July of the current fiscal year 2023-2024 /2024-2025.

The authority has constructed and commissioned 33 and 11 kilovolt (KV) and 400 volt lines to supply electricity from grid substations to distribution substations and to provide electricity to consumers from distribution substations. Distribution transformer is also installed.

From July until now, 9 distribution substations with a capacity of 33÷11 have been constructed and brought into operation. This has led to improvements in electricity supply in the construction area as well as a decrease in power outages.

Ghising Discloses Ongoing Enhancement and Strengthening of Transmission and Distribution Lines and Substations, as well as the Commencement of New Transmission Lines and Substations Construction.

The authority has installed 33-11 KV Chisapani substation for power supply in the western region of Ilam and Panchthar, Danjavan substation for power supply in Bagmati and Bakaiya Rural Municipality of Makwanpur, Darbang Substation for power supply in Mangala, Malika and Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality of Myagdi and Bullingtar Rural Municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Susta East). Bojhpokhri substation has been constructed and put into operation for power supply in the area.

The substation was built through the investment of the Nepal government and authorities and the subsidized distribution system strengthening and expansion project of the Asian Development Bank. Under the project, the construction of 25 new substations and the upgrading of 12 substations and construction of the distribution network were advanced. Out of 25 substations, the construction of five is in the final stage, while the upgrading of the substations has been completed.

33-11 KV substations for distribution at Manhari in Makwanpur, Dudhauli in Sindhuli, Namdu in Dolakha and Unichaur in Lalitpur have been constructed and put into operation with concessional loans from World Bank’s Grid Solar and Energy Efficiency Project.

Similarly, a distribution substation has been constructed at Bamti in Ramchhap with a concessional loan from the World Bank. 33 kV transmission lines reaching the said substations and lines for power supply from there have also been constructed and put into operation.
