The government has allocated a budget of 50 million Nepalese Rupees for the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.

While presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2081/082, the Finance Minister announced that the government aims to ensure access to clean drinking water for all by the year 2030.

The Minister further declared plans to expand the capacity of the Sundarijal Water Purification Plant and to extend the Melamchi Drinking Water Project by laying an additional 645 kilometers of pipelines in the Kathmandu Valley.

Furthermore, the government has announced its intention to expand irrigation coverage to 15,571 hectares of land in the upcoming fiscal year.

In the budget presented for the fiscal year 2081/082, the Finance Minister also announced the commencement of the first phase of irrigation under the Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation Project, covering 14,900 hectares of land.

Additionally, the government has disclosed plans to expand irrigation in the Sikta area and to construct the Duduwa and Narainapur branch canals.

Minister Pun announced a budget allocation of 1.6 billion Nepalese Rupees for the Sikta Irrigation Project.
