Amid an ongoing tussle between the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the industrialists around outstanding payments for electricity consumed through the dedicated feeder and trunkline, a parliamentary committee has prepared a report recommending that Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of NEA, be investigated by several agencies.

The Public Accounts Committee is preparing to ask, in writing, the Department of Revenue Investigation, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police to investigate Ghising.

According to the committee, the NEA leadership failed to secure the Times of Day (TOD) Metre records and to collect the amount that should be deposited in the state fund.

Last Friday, after a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee, it was decided to formally request TOD Metre data from the NEA. Committee Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel mentioned that the committee was looking for clarity on the details of the TOD metre.

Ghising, speaking at the same meeting, had alleged industrialists to be the main cause for the dedicated feeder and trunk line dispute.
