Nepal Telecom has provided NT fibre service through FTTH (fibre to the home) technology in Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla.

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung launched the service virtually at a function held at the Ministry on Friday.

Along with the launching of the service in Simkot, Nepal Telecom's NT fibre has reached all 77 districts of Nepal. This is an important step in the country's telecommunication development.

FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) is a form of fibre-optic communication delivery that reaches one living or working space.

Through the NT fibre service provided in Humla, more quality service will be available compared to the ADSL service which was available in the past.

Higher capacity internet, telephone and television facilities will be available in the coming days, according to NT.

On that occasion, Minister Gurung said that the government was involved in the campaign to make a digital Nepal and Nepal Telecom would play an important role in providing telecommunication services to the offices of all local bodies in Nepal.

As an important step of the government, fibre service has reached all 77 districts of the country and he expressed his hope that more important achievements will be attained in the coming days.

Minister Gurung thanked Nepal Telecom for this important achievement.

Radhika Aryal, Chairman of Board of Directors of NT and Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, said that this was an important day for the company and the government and thanked all the people’s representatives and employees for their support in providing services.

She said that everyone's cooperation and support were required to make the service more effective in the coming days.

Managing Director of Nepal Telecom Sangita Pahadee (Aryal) said that while earlier internet service was being provided through copper technology, now like in other districts, internet service will be available through fibre in Humla district and the service will also be upgraded.

She said that even in the remote districts of Karnali, Nepal Telecom is expanding its services based on its resources and possibilities and has also operated service through using solar in such places.

She said that the quality of service would also be upgraded along with access to roads and electricity in the coming days.
