BYD Energy Storage and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) have recently signed contracts for the world's largest grid-scale energy storage projects, totaling 12.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh). This agreement, combined with previously delivered projects worth 2.6 GWh, brings the total cooperation to 15.1 GWh of projects. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in advancing Saudi Arabia's renewable energy industry and aligning with the ambitious goals set forth in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative.

The projects aim to reshape Saudi Arabia's energy landscape and drive exploration in renewable energy, reflecting the Kingdom's ambitious goal of achieving a 50% renewable energy share by 2030. The energy storage systems will integrate into Saudi Arabia's power transmission network, addressing challenges posed by the increasing number of renewable energy generation systems. BYD Energy Storage will supply new-generation MC Cube-T energy storage systems, utilizing its globally pioneering CTS (Cell-to-System) super-integrated technology. These systems feature a Vcts (proportion of cell volume to system volume) index exceeding 33%, ensuring efficient energy storage and optimal integration into the grid. The project marks the first time Saudi Arabia has committed to large-scale grid-scale storage, signaling a shift in strategy towards enhancing renewable energy reliability.

This achievement also highlights BYD Energy Storage's extensive expertise and global reach. The company has delivered over 75 GWh of energy storage equipment to projects in more than 110 countries and regions worldwide.
