Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) and Trinasolar, a worldwide provider of smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions, have joined efforts to advance smart energy storage systems (ESS). This collaboration, based in Singapore, focuses on improving efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in renewable energy applications. The initiative comes as solar, wind, and hydrogen energy sources grow globally, emphasizing the need for dependable energy storage to maintain power grid stability and optimize usage.

The partnership is spearheaded by the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), leveraging NTU’s research capabilities alongside Trinasolar’s experience in PV and ESS technologies. Together, they aim to tackle key challenges in smart energy storage through three main areas: developing AI-driven tools for better investment decisions, enhancing system stability with intelligent energy forecasting, and creating smart optimization algorithms for various storage applications. These efforts seek to provide practical solutions for the renewable energy sector.

The collaboration was officially established with the signing of a technology research agreement between NTU and Trinasolar. Based in Singapore, NTU brings its strong history of industry partnerships, while Trinasolar contributes its global expertise, marked by 30 world records in PV and ESS advancements. Their combined strengths aim to produce innovations that align with the demands of a shifting energy landscape.
