Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising has inaugurated the 33 kV double circuit transmission line from Motipur to Taulihawa in Kapilvastu along with a new administrative building on Thursday. The inauguration was marked by switching on the 33 kV line and unveiling the plaque.

On the occasion, MD Ghising expressed gratitude to the government and the Ministry of Home Affairs for their support in resuming the long-stalled double circuit transmission line. Speaking at the event organized by the NEA Taulihawa Distribution Center, he emphasized the crucial role of security agencies in resolving challenges in electricity transmission. The new transmission line is expected to provide reliable electricity to Taulihawa and surrounding municipalities, including Kapilvastu Municipality, Yashodhara Rural Municipality, Mayadevi Rural Municipality and Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality.

Kapilvastu Chief District Officer Bishwaprakash Aryal highlighted the importance of coordination in development projects and stressed the need for policy adjustments concerning land acquisition for transmission line expansion. Meanwhile, NEA’s Provincial Chief Hari Prasad Pande underscored the necessity of continued support from security agencies in controlling electricity leakage.

Gaurav Pandey, chief of the NEA Taulihawa Center, said that persistent issues such as low voltage in the district headquarters are gradually being addressed. He said that the region would soon experience improved electricity supply.

During the event, Ghising honored Chief District Officer Aryal, Superintendent of Police Niranjan Dutta Bhatt and Armed Police Force (APF) SP Netra KC with certificates of appreciation. The inauguration was attended by Butwal Grid Division Chief Suraj Gautam, Lumbini Provincial Accounts Chief Farsuram Pande, heads of various distribution and grid offices, and journalists, including Kapilvastu Federation of Journalists President Dilaram Bhusal and Kiranman Bajracharya.
