Petroleum products worth Rs 18.04 billion have been imported through the eastern border point of Kakarbhitta in the first 11 months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25. The imported petroleum products include petrol, diesel, LPG, ATF(aviation fuel), and kerosene.

According to Ishwar Kumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, this is a decline of Rs 1.06 billion (5.60 percent) compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Despite the decline in imports, revenue collected from petroleum products increased by 5.70 percent, amounting to Rs 474.3 million more than the previous year.

As per the office’s data, revenue collected from petroleum imports in this 11-month period stands at Rs 8.78 billion.

During this period, 93,824 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 8.11 billion were imported. Similarly, 68,820 kiloliters of diesel, valued at Rs 6.26 billion were brought in.

In addition, the same period saw the import of 23,438 metric tons of LPG worth Rs 2.59 billion; 6,708 kiloliters of ATF worth Rs 612 million; and 2,520 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 227.1 million.
