A 24.92-megawatt semi-reservoir-type hydropower project is set to be developed on the Induwa Khola in Makalu Rural Municipality-5 of Sankhuwasabha district.

The project will be developed by Vision Tesla Power Company, which aims to complete construction within three years of commencement.

The company has issued a notice inviting feedback from local residents regarding the potential positive or negative impacts of the project. Locals have been given 35 days to submit their opinions.

According to the company, an 18-meter-long dam will be constructed on the Induwa Khola at an altitude of 1,372 meters above sea level.

A 60-meter-long, 6.5-meter-wide settling basin will be built along the left bank of the river, where water will be channeled for sedimentation.

To the right of the basin, a peaking pond with a capacity of 100,291 cubic meters and a maximum depth of 7 meters will be constructed. The project will also utilize water from the Simli Khola and Chimchime Khola.

Electricity generated by the project will be transmitted via a 9-kilometer-long, 132 kV single-circuit transmission line to the switchyard of the Isuwa Khola Cascade Hydropower Project, and then connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Shitalpati substation.
