The Hydrogen Stream: Trina Sends First Containerized Hydrogen Unit to Europe

Trina Green Hydrogen, a Chinese company, has shipped a megawatt-class containerized electrolytic water hydrogen production system from China to Europe. “Expected to arrive at the destination in September 2025 and put into demonstration operation before the end of the year. This marks a significant breakthrough in the full process delivery capability of Trina Green Hydrogen in the global hydrogen energy market,” the company stated. The system, housed in four containers, includes electrolytic cells, gas-liquid separation devices, purification systems, power supplies, water treatment, and compressors, showcasing advanced technology for clean energy production.

In Brazil, Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), owned by Saudi Arabia’s Adbud Latif Jameel, has partnered with Envision for the H2 Cumbuco green ammonia project at Pecém Port. “This agreement will see Envision bringing to H2 Cumbuco – a landmark green ammonia project located in Brazil's Pecém Port its globally recognized expertise in integrated renewable energy solution, building on its pioneering scalable clean energy models that are modular and replicable across the world,” FRV announced. The collaboration aims to leverage Envision’s expertise to advance sustainable ammonia production.

Hyphen Hydrogen Energy in Namibia has awarded China National Chemical Engineering & Construction Corp. Seven contracts for front-end engineering, design, and construction of its 3 GW hydrogen and ammonia production project. In early July, Hyphen appointed Giuseppe Surace as chief operating officer to oversee the initiative, reinforcing its commitment to clean energy development.

Paragon Resources and Siemens have agreed to promote Paragon’s innovative hydrogen production method, which avoids electrolysis, methane reforming, or carbon capture. “By reacting treated, recycled aluminium with water in the presence of a catalyst, the process yields hydrogen gas, aluminum hydroxide, which can be used in industrial applications, and heat,” Siemens explained. The heat generated can be converted into electricity, offering an efficient energy solution.

In Austria, OBB and Voestalpine have installed a railway track section in Linz using hydrogen-based steel production, a global first for rail manufacturing. “At Voestalpine, we have already successfully launched our transition to green steel production and are progressing rapidly with the construction of two electric arc furnaces powered by green energy in Linz and Donawitz,” said Voestalpine CEO Herbert Eibensteiner.

Doosan Fuel Cell has begun mass production of fuel cell stacks and power systems using Ceres’ solid oxide technology at its facility in South Korea, the first to manufacture these cells at scale. Ceres noted: “The products will serve rapidly growing markets including AI-driven data centres and distributed commercial power.” Doosan expects to deliver its first commercial units by the end of 2025.

BP has decided to exit its role as operator and equity holder in the Australian Renewable Energy Hub (AREH). “BP will work with its AREH partners to ensure a safe and efficient transition of operatorship,” the London-based company stated, noting that the project remains a significant opportunity for Western Australia’s decarbonization efforts.
