On August 8, BYD Thailand hosted a prominent event in Bangkok to introduce the BYD SEAL 5 DM-i, the fourth model produced at its local facility. This launch marks two significant milestones: it is the first right-hand-drive vehicle manufactured at BYD’s Thailand plant and the first locally made midsize plug-in hybrid electric sedan for the Thai market.

The SEAL 5 DM-i, built on BYD’s DM-i platform, offers five key features: superior hybrid performance, extended driving range, fuel efficiency, safety, and reliability. These attributes position the vehicle to redefine standards in Thailand’s midsize sedan segment, according to BYD.

Ke Yubin, General Manager of BYD Thailand, stated: “Production of the SEAL 5 DM-i at BYD’s Rayong plant reflects the company’s strong confidence in Thailand’s manufacturing capabilities.” He emphasized that this achievement highlights BYD’s dedication to advancing new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies in Thailand and setting a new benchmark for midsize sedans.

BYD expressed its commitment to providing Thai consumers with sustainable and efficient transportation options. The company is collaborating with local partners to strengthen the regional supply chain, contributing to the growth of Thailand’s NEV industry. With over 90,000 vehicles sold in the country, BYD’s strategy integrates local production and sales to drive sector expansion while creating more than 9,000 jobs locally.

The launch of the SEAL 5 DM-i underscores BYD’s focus on promoting greener mobility in Thailand.
