The share trading benchmark, NEPSE index, closed higher on Monday, rising by 9.16 points. Compared to the previous day, it increased by 0.33 percent, bringing the overall NEPSE to 2,770.39 points at closing. On Sunday, the NEPSE had dropped by 27 points. Although the index rose on Monday, the transaction amount decreased.

On this day, the share prices of 175 companies increased, while those of 74 companies declined. Since the number of companies whose share prices went up was higher than those that went down, the overall NEPSE index rose by 9 points.

That day, a total of 11,529,821 shares were traded in 67,959 transactions, amounting to Rs. 6.17 billion in turnover. Compared to the previous day, the transaction amount had decreased. On Sunday, the share market had recorded a turnover of Rs. 7.53 billion.

On Monday, among the traded sectors, the indices of Mutual Funds and Others subgroups declined. With the remaining 11 subgroups posting gains, they contributed to the overall NEPSE’s rise of 9.16 points.

The Mutual Fund index fell by 0.49 percent, while the Others index dropped by 0.58 percent. On the same day, the Trading subgroup index increased by 1.29 percent. According to NEPSE data, the remaining 11 subgroup indices rose by less than 1 percent each.

Investors in hydropower companies earned significantly on Monday. Among the traded stocks, Union Hydropower’s share price rose by 6.10 percent, Upper Syange Hydropower by 5.94 percent, Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower by 5.43 percent, Dordikhola Hydropower by 4.78 percent, and Liberty Energy by 4.54 percent.

On the same day, topping the list of companies with the sharpest declines was Sampada Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, whose share price fell by 4.81 percent.

According to NEPSE, the share price of Samata Gharelu Laghubitta declined by 3.53 percent, Nepal Republic Media by 3.36 percent, Laxmi Value Fund-2 by 3.02 percent, and Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-2 by 2.03 percent.

Based on transaction volume, the top five companies of the day on Monday were Nepal Reinsurance Company, Butwal Power Company, NRN Infrastructure and Development, Kalika Power Company, and Himalayan Distillery.
