Technip Energies' responsibilities include detailed engineering for new CCS processing units and CO2 injection facilities.

Technip Energies has been awarded a contract by Thoresen Jutal Offshore Engineering Heavy Industries (Thailand) to deliver detailed engineering services for the Arthit carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the Gulf of Thailand, led by PTTEP.

The Arthit CCS initiative serves as a pilot effort to develop expertise and advance CCS adoption in Thailand. It aligns with national policies, including recognition under the Nationally Determined Contribution Action Plan on Mitigation 2021-2030.

Technip Energies previously contributed to the project by completing the pre-front-end engineering design (FEED) and full FEED phases during 2022 and 2023. The current award extends this involvement into the detailed engineering stage.

The project utilizes existing infrastructure at the Arthit field while incorporating new facilities for carbon capture, processing, and injection. Once fully operational, it is expected to achieve an annual capacity of approximately one million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), contributing to emission reduction objectives in Thailand.

Scope for Technip Energies includes detailed engineering for new CCS processing units and CO2 injection systems, alongside modifications to the existing Arthit central processing platform.

PTTEP's leadership in this endeavor highlights commitment to sustainable energy practices and long-term environmental goals. The collaboration with experienced engineering partners ensures technical reliability and effective project execution.

Earlier in 2025, Technip Energies obtained a separate FEED contract for Uniper's planned combined cycle gas turbine power station equipped with CCS at Connah’s Quay in northwest England, further illustrating the company's active role in global low-carbon projects.

Overall, the Arthit CCS project represents a meaningful step toward practical decarbonisation in the region's energy sector, combining reuse of infrastructure with advanced engineering solutions to achieve measurable emission reductions.
