Rasuwa-Salasungi Hydropower has decided to proceed with the process of issuing shares in accordance with the demands of the affected local residents. The project is ready to provide shares to local residents who had protested, claiming their entitlement to them.

The 78-megawatt hydropower project, built with an investment of approximately NPR 2 billion from the private sector, started in 2019 and was completed in 2025. According to Raju Shrestha, an engineer at the hydropower plant, the project, constructed by building a dam about 34 meters above sea level, produces only 15 megawatts of electricity during the winter.

Ram Bahadur Tamang, the ward chairperson of Ward No. 5, Amachodingmo Rural Municipality, stated that the protest programs were suspended after receiving a letter from the project authorities providing information regarding the distribution of shares to local residents.

The locals had been demanding that the affected parties be given priority shares in all types of structures and activities constructed or to be constructed using local water, forest, land, and natural resources.
