By the end of mid-Mangsir of the current fiscal year 2082/83, petroleum products worth NPR 7 billion 844 million 23 thousand were imported through the eastern border point of Kakarbhitta. The imports included petrol, diesel, LPG gas, aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene.

According to Information Officer of Mechi Customs Office, Ishwar Kumar Humagain, petroleum imports increased by NPR 235 million 270 thousand, or 3.10 percent, compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year 2081/82. With the increase in imports, revenue generated from petroleum products also rose by 2.50 percent, or NPR 94 million 295 thousand, Humagain informed.

As per office data, revenue amounting to NPR 3 billion 805 million 864 thousand was collected from petroleum imports during the first five months of the current fiscal year. During this period, 43,160 kiloliters of petrol worth NPR 3 billion 827 million were imported. Similarly, 26,120 kiloliters of diesel worth NPR 2 billion 531 million were imported.

Likewise, during the same five-month period, 10,480 metric tons of LPG gas worth NPR 1 billion 16 million, 3,580 kiloliters of ATF worth NPR 328 million, and 680 kiloliters of kerosene worth NPR 63.1 million were imported.
