Nepal Telecom has installed a new communication tower in the Arunkhola-Dumkibas jungle area of Nawalparasi (East), providing network services to local residents and travellers.

The tower, located near the Forest Office in the Chaklaban area, aims to address the communication gaps faced by the region, including the East-West Highway, which had previously been without proper network coverage.

"When travelling through the jungle, the lack of telecom network meant that customers missed out on important phone calls, and in case of accidents or other incidents, communication was not possible. The installation of this tower will help resolve these issues," said Tirtharaj Adhikari, Senior Engineer at Nepal Telecom, Kawasoti.

According to him, the tower will benefit not only the nearby villages and the Forest Office but also the surrounding areas along the main highway. Following complaints about the lack of communication services in the jungle areas, Nepal Telecom decided to install the tower.

"In the event of an accident or emergency, the inability to make contact in jungle areas could complicate matters. Therefore, installing this tower is not just about expanding service; it’s also about ensuring the safety and convenience of people," said Adhikari.

The installation process was completed with the approval of the Division Forest Office, in cooperation with the local municipality and the nearby Forest Office.

"As it is a small tower, the process was not very complicated. The Forest Office coordinated the electricity supply, while the local municipality arranged for the poles. Using the necessary materials we had, we managed to install the tower," said the company.

Residents and travellers in the area will now have access to 2G and 4G services. Nepal Telecom has also announced plans to install towers in other jungle areas along the main highways.

Adhikari mentioned that discussions are ongoing with relevant parties to ensure proper electricity supply and safe locations for these future installations.
