Petroleum imports through the Birgunj Customs Office continued their upward trend in the first six months of the current fiscal year (FY), with goods worth Rs 90.06 billion entering the country.

This marks an increase of Rs 2.75 billion compared to the same period of the previous FY. During the review period, revenue collected from petroleum imports reached Rs 37.85 billion.

According to Uday Singh Bista, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, both the volume of petroleum imports and the revenue generated have seen a notable rise compared to last year. In the first six months of the previous FY, petroleum products worth Rs 87.31 billion were imported, generating Rs 36.14 billion in revenue.

Customs data show that diesel remained the largest import item, with shipments worth Rs 45.38 billion generating Rs 19.85 billion in revenue. Petrol imports amounted to Rs 20.98 billion, contributing Rs 13.82 billion in revenue. Similarly, LPG gas imports worth Rs 14.79 billion generated Rs 2.77 billion in revenue.
