Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, has urged the private sector to focus on boosting Nepal’s production, particularly in the clean energy and electrical sectors.

Speaking at the launch of “Fin Electro Tech 2024,” an exhibition organized by the Federation of Electrical Entrepreneurs of Nepal (FEEN) at Bhrikutimandap, Singh highlighted the urgent need to strengthen manufacturing to support economic growth. “Nepal’s GDP is declining,” he stated. “We need to prioritize the manufacturing sector to help drive our economy.”

According to Singh’s Secretariat, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the rising demand for clean energy and the potential for Nepal to become an energy exporter. He stressed the importance of producing enough electricity to meet the needs of the production sector, which he said could stimulate the economy and create export opportunities.

Singh also mentioned that by utilizing Nepal’s own energy resources, the country could reduce reliance on imports, benefiting the economy.

He assured the audience that the government is addressing private sector concerns, including those raised by the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). Singh acknowledged the need for infrastructure to support economic activities, noting that the government is considering plans for a modern exhibition hall as business activities grow.

“The government is paying close attention to the issues raised by the private sector,” Singh stated, adding that “the public will see positive results soon.” He concluded by pledging to work closely with industry stakeholders to enhance Nepal’s economic infrastructure and support growth.
