Nepal has imported petroleum products worth Rs 104.76 billion through the Birgunj border in the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2024/25. Diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and kerosene have been imported.

The Birgunj Customs Office said that petroleum product imports have increased by 840 million compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Amit Tiwari, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that both petroleum product imports and revenue have increased in the last months of the current fiscal year. “The increase in petroleum product imports is also due to the start of the infrastructure construction season,” Tiwari said.

Similarly, petroleum products worth Rs 103.92 billion were imported during the same period last fiscal year 2023/24. According to the office, it collected Rs 43.11 billion in revenue from petroleum product imports in the first seven months of the current fiscal year.
