The World Bank has pledged to support Nepal in achieving higher economic growth.

On Tuesday, World Bank Vice President for South Asia Johannes Zutt expressed this commitment during a courtesy meeting with Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel in Kathmandu.

Minister Paudel claimed that Nepal’s economic indicators have shown notable improvement. He said the government is ready to work in line with the Country Partnership Framework prepared by the World Bank for the next six years.

Paudel also said that the Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill has already been passed by the House of Representatives and is under discussion in the National Assembly. Once enacted, it will allow investments in return-oriented projects in partnership with the private sector. He expressed hope that the World Bank would extend its cooperation to achieve the bill’s objectives.

In response, Vice President Zutt assured continued support for Nepal’s growth, emphasizing collaboration in infrastructure development in Lumbini and the Kathmandu Valley, reducing environmental pollution, and fostering economic growth. He also underlined the need for stronger participation from the private sector.
