Trina Storage has introduced Elementa Electra, a new AC-coupled modular battery energy storage system tailored for large-scale renewable energy projects.

The solution combines Trina's advanced battery packs with an integrated AC-side unit that incorporates power conversion and medium-voltage transformer functions in a single package. This design streamlines the overall system architecture, improves coordination between DC and AC components, and simplifies grid connection procedures.

Elementa Electra enables direct AC output, reducing conversion steps and supporting higher round-trip efficiency. The platform is engineered for multiple grid-support functions, including energy time-shifting, frequency response, grid-forming operation, and black-start capability.

By developing both the battery cells and the power electronics in-house, Trina Storage achieves full vertical integration of the complete storage stack. This approach ensures optimised performance across the entire system and enhances long-term reliability.

The new product expands Trina Storage's portfolio of utility-scale solutions, offering project developers greater flexibility and cost-effective options for integrating large volumes of renewable generation into power networks worldwide.

Elementa Electra builds on the company's established Elementa platform while introducing AC-coupled architecture that meets growing market demand for efficient, scalable energy storage systems capable of supporting grid stability and renewable energy utilisation.
