In the first four months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2082/83 BS, petroleum products worth more than Rs 6.02 billion were imported through the eastern border point of Kakarbhitta. Petrol, diesel, LP gas, ATF and kerosene worth Rs 6.2 billion were brought in during this period.

According to Ishwar Kumar Humagain, Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, imports of petroleum products increased by Rs 119.2 million, or 2.01 percent, compared to the same period of the previous FY 2081/82 BS. With this rise, revenue collected from petroleum products also increased by 2.90 percent, or Rs 84.1 million, he said.

In the first four months of the current FY, Rs 2.968 billion in revenue was collected from petroleum product imports. During this period, 35,156 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 3.1054 billion were imported. Similarly, 18,408 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 1.7 billion entered the country.

Likewise, in the same period, 8,557 metric tons of LP gas worth Rs 826.3 million, 2,908 kiloliters of ATF worth Rs 263.3 million, and 508 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs 46.1 million were imported.
