Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 123.67 billion through the Birgunj customs point in the first eight months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, marking an increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the Birgunj Customs Office, the imports generated Rs 52.15 billion in revenue during the review period.

Diesel accounted for the largest share, with imports worth Rs 63.65 billion totaling 702,300 kilolitres. Similarly, petrol imports stood at Rs 25.30 billion, equivalent to 290,382 kilolitres.

In the same period, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports reached Rs 20.85 billion, amounting to 202.82 million kilograms.

Officials said the overall rise in fuel imports reflects increased demand and consumption compared to the previous fiscal year.
