Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday surged 14.21 points to close at 2,950.16 points.

The secondary market added double-digit points in the intraday trading after it got corrected by 24.45 points on the previous day. The trade volume however fell amid the formation process of a new government.

NEPSE opened at 2,935.94 points initially plunged to the day’s low at 2,919.22 points in the first 12 minutes, while going through high fluctuations for one hour more. The index reached as high as 2,946.12 points and witnessed a drop down of up to 13 points for another two hours. In the last 40 minutes, the market went into upward graph successively, recovering around 18 points.

Three groups were the losers with the trading index declining by the largest of 121.57 points, which was followed by life insurance and development banks with drops of nominal points. Of the gainers, manufacturing and processing jumped by the largest of 156.53 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also inclined 1.98 points. Daily turnover slumped to Rs 13.16 billion from Rs 15.09 billion.

Among the individual companies, 178 were the gainers and 80 were the losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 942.98 million.

Three companies including Reliance Spinning Mills, Super Khudi Hydropower Limited and Hotel Forest Inn Limited were the topmost gainers of 10 percent. Panchakanya Mai Hydropower with a decline of 7.48 percent in its market value was recorded as the highest loser.
