Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has assured that there will be no shortage of petroleum products during the upcoming Dashain-Tihar festive season.

Speaking at a meeting of the Industry, Commerce and Labour and Consumer Interest Committee on Wednesday, NOC Executive Director Nagendra Sah said the corporation has sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel to meet demand during the major festivals.

NOC currently has around 15 million litres of petrol, 46 million litres of diesel, 1.7 million litres of kerosene and 7 million litres of aviation fuel in stock.

Sah said the corporation maintains an average reserve of 13 to 14 days, while daily petrol consumption stands at around 2 million litres.

However, Sah said the supply of LPG gas has come under some pressure in recent times.

Nepal currently has 58 LPG brands in the market, making supply management more challenging.

He said the government is considering a long-term plan to merge LPG brands to streamline distribution and improve supply management.

Nepal remains dependent on various Indian refineries and depots for LPG imports, he added.
