Various agencies and institutions in the energy sector on Wednesday provided an additional Rs. 21.2 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to support relief and rescue operations during the national disaster.

Through the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the Electricity Regulatory Commission contributed Rs. 10 million, Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL) Rs. 10.1 million, and Green Ventures Limited Rs. 1.1 million.

Representatives of the respective institutions handed over the cheques to Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha at a function held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.

On behalf of the ERC, its Chairperson, Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital, presented the cheque to Minister Shrestha.

On Tuesday, the Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) had contributed Rs. 130 million to the fund through Minister Shrestha, which had been collected from its member companies.
