The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week decreased 14 points (0.57 percent) after the stock prices of hydropower bounced back from previous week when the market suffered due to the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli floods.

The secondary market opened for trading at 2,557.31 points and closed at 2,542.77 points. During the period, the market rose as high as 2,556.96 points and fell as low as 2,501.49 points, marking the volatility of 55.47 points.

In all four-day trading, with the government declaring a public holiday on Friday to mark Shree Krishna Janmastami, the market index went down for a single day on Monday when the index declined 43.89 points. The largest growth was observed on Wednesday with the index jumping by 15.44 points.

Sector-wise, the manufacturing and processing group soared by the largest of 67.14 points (0.64 percent), as trading, banking and investment followed the gainers. Of the nine losers, non-life insurance plunged 443.08 points (4.55 percent), the largest of all.

Among the individual companies, share price of Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha jumped the highest of 21.51 percent. Pure Energy lost the highest of 13.80 percent.

The average daily turnover decreased to Rs 3.241 billion from Rs 3.977 billion, marking a decline of 0.73 percent. Market capitalization declined to Rs 4.373 trillion from Rs 4.398 trillion, causing the investors to lose Rs 25 billion in their book value. In the previous week, the investors had lost Rs 105.60 billion.
