50 pc work on Gongar-Khimti transmission line completed

Fifty per cent work on the construction of Gongar-Khimti 220 KV Double Circuit Transmission line has been completed in Dolakaha. The transmission line will be used to evacuate power generated from Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project (456MW ) to the national grid.

Fifty per cent work on the 47-kilometre transmission line from project’s power house located at Gongar to Khimti has been completed. The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project is constructing the transmission line.

Of the total 127 pylons required for the transmission line project, 100 have been erected.

Indian Company KEC International is working on the transmission line project in three sections.

The first section of the transmission line stretches from Gongar to Sunkhani of Dolakha district, the second section from Sunkhani to Bhirkot and the third section from and Bhirkot to Phulashi of Ramechhap district.

Project Chief Dinesh Jung Rana said work on the New Khimti Sub-station in Ramechhap’s Phulashi had started.

Most of the locals have already received compensation for their land in Phulashi. Soil test for the sub-station is on. Transmission line and sub-station construction work are set to be completed within 15 months.

Public relations officer at the hydropower project Ganesh Neupane said that the project had set the target of starting power generation within this fiscal.

Neupane further said they had been working with the aim to run the hydropower project in full capacity by December this year.

After the locals received the compensation for their land, the stage has been cleared for construction of Khimti sub-station. There are 872 households affected by the project.

Nepal Electricity Authority plans to evacuate power generated from Dolakha, Ramechhap and Okhaldhunga to New Khimti Sub-station and then to the national grid.
