A discussion was held between the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song.

The Confederation’s officials, led by Chairman Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, met with Ambassador Song today to discuss investment and business partnerships.

Agarwal, the confederation’s President, stated that China is a key development partner, and that there is a need for cooperation in the infrastructure sector, where Nepal lags.

He requested that Chinese investment and cooperation in infrastructure, technology transfer, skills, tourism, and other industries be given top attention. He also requested help in bringing Nepalese items to the Chinese market via e-commerce.

President Agarwal also informed Ambassador Song that the cooperation between the Confederation and the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) will be visible in Nepal.

On that occasion, Chinese Ambassador Song stated that, despite its appearance, Nepal is not a little country as it is situated between China and India. He underlined the importance of long-term development planning, claiming that Nepal can prosper with its own energy and resources. He proposed that Nepal prioritize the energy industry in order to expand the use of power.

According to him, it will aid in import substitution. He stated that the confederation is working for industrial growth, expressing China’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s industrial development.

The upcoming visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to China was also discussed.

The outgoing president of the federation, Bishnu Kumar Agarwal, vice presidents Nirvana Chaudhary, Hem Raj Dhakal, Rohit Gupta, Amit More, office bearers Chhaya Sharma, Gokul Bhandari, director general Deepakraj Joshi and others participated in the discussion.
