The water level in the reservoir of Kulekhani I Hydropower Station (KL1HPS) has started to recede.

Early Saturday morning, at 5 AM, two gates of the dam were opened to ensure safety after the reservoir overflowed. According to Taradatta Bhatta, chief of Kulekhani I Hydropower Project, there is a slight decrease in the water level.

The reservoir's total capacity is 1,530 meters, but around 4 AM today, it reached 1,531 meters. The gates were opened when the water level rose to the danger point.

After opening the gates, the water level dropped to 1,530.10 meters. Bhatta said that since the rain is still ongoing, the gates will remain open, and the hydropower station is running at full capacity.

Additionally, the District Administration Office in Makwanpur has warned residents in lower areas near Kulekhani to stay alert for possible flooding along the Bagmati River due to continuous rainfall.
