After the repair of the desander on the left side which was damaged by the landslide, water will be filled, electricity will be generated by sending water according to the flow of Tamakoshi, the goal of generating 456 megawatts of electricity in the peak hour.

The repair of the country’s largest 456 MW Upper Tamakoshi hydropower station, which was damaged by the landslide on September 28, has been accelerated. Preparations have been started to start production from the power plant by keeping the deadline of December 25.

However, it is expected to take at least another month, or until the first week of (mid-January), to fully repair and bring the center into complete operation, according to Mohan Gautam, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamakoshi Hydropower Center.

The repair of two desander ponds at the power plant is in its final stages. Among them, preparations are underway to produce electricity by directly channeling water from the dam site as soon as the repair of the left-side desander is completed.

Since the repair of the left-side desander is nearing completion, electricity production will begin by directly channeling Tamakoshi’s water on December 25, according to Purnagopal Ranjit, the manager of the power plant, speaking to Kantipur. The landslide had caused extensive damage to the power plant, including the desander and Tower No. 46 of the transmission line. While the construction of the tower has been completed, Ranjit stated that water will be filled once the repair of the damaged left-side desander is finalized.
