The number of charging stations is increasing with the growing use of electric vehicles (EVs).

The number of charging stations across the country has reached 750. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has established charging stations in various locations nationwide.

Companies like Tata Motors and BYD have also set up charging stations in different areas. Additionally, many independent commercial charging stations are now operational in various places. According to the NEA's recent study, 41 percent of charging stations are located in public areas.

Similarly, 18 per cent of charging stations are found near hotels, and 13 per cent are near restaurants. Hotels and restaurants have installed these charging stations to attract customers. Additionally, 8 per cent of charging stations are located at petrol pumps that sell fuel, while 17 per cent are situated at auto workshops and vehicle garages, and 3 percent are located elsewhere.

The NEA has approved the construction of 750 charging stations across the country, with 238 currently under construction. The NEA operates 62 charging stations, while the rest are privately owned. The operational charging stations have a total electricity consumption capacity of 78.8 megawatts.

These charging stations consume 322,300 units of electricity daily. The NEA has sold 36,666 units of electricity from its charging stations in just one day, collecting a fee of Rs 331,458.
