This initiative is expected to contribute 0.4% towards Europe’s ambitious renewable energy goals for 2030.

Beijing HyperStrong Technology, a battery energy storage system provider, and Repono, a European firm, have agreed to develop 1.4 gigawatts of energy storage projects across Europe by 2027. Formalized in June 2025, the partnership will add 400 megawatt hours of renewable energy to the European grid, supporting 0.4% of the region’s 2030 renewable energy goals.

By combining Repono’s project development expertise with HyperStrong’s system integration capabilities, the collaboration aims to enhance energy storage deployment across Europe. Pingyang Wang, HyperStrong’s international senior vice-president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, stated: “We are excited to deepen our partnership with Repono to accelerate the deployment of safe, high-performance, and cost-effective energy storage infrastructure in Europe. This collaboration reflects our long-term commitment to the European market and our shared ambition to enable grid stability and energy transition in the region.”

The agreement fosters joint planning and evaluation to align technical and commercial project aspects. Repono’s CEO, Karim Nils Grueber, noted: “HyperStrong brings strong technical know-how and proven experience in delivering integrated BESS solutions, which is complementary to Repono’s extensive expertise in project development and more than 100,000 hours of BESS operations experience. We will lead with excellence in project design, permitting and EPC [engineering, procurement and construction] coordination. Together, we aim to unlock the potential of grid-scale storage as a backbone for Europe’s energy transition.”

This initiative is set to strengthen Europe’s energy infrastructure, promoting grid reliability and sustainable energy adoption.
