Industries that consumed electricity through dedicated and trunk lines have started paying the outstanding premium charges to the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Samrat Cement, Rolpa Cement, and Nawa Nepal Plastic Industries have made installment payments. All three industries had previously opted for an installment facility to pay their outstanding amounts. However, after paying a few installments under the 28-installment plan, they had stopped payments starting from last Baisakh (April-May).

Samrat Cement had received approval from the Authority to pay the total outstanding amount of NPR 37.7 million for additional charges for using the dedicated and trunk lines from Magh 2072 (Jan-Feb 2016) to Baisakh 2075 (April-May 2018) in 28 monthly installments of NPR 1.349 million each.

After paying four installments, the industry had stopped payments starting from last Baisakh. After paying NPR 4.047 million, equivalent to three installments, in a single payment, the installment dues up to the month of Jestha (May-June) have been cleared.

According to the approved installment plan, 11 installments were to be paid from Asar (June-July) to Asoj (September-October), but only seven have been paid. A letter has been sent again requesting the payment of the remaining four installments totaling NPR 5.396 million, and the industry has stated that it will pay the amount and continue paying the remaining installments regularly, informed Dipak Gautam, Head of the Authority’s Provincial Division Office, Nepalgunj.

Similarly, Rolpa Cement had received approval from the Authority to pay the outstanding amount of NPR 9.912 million in 28 monthly installments of NPR 354,000 each.

After paying six installments, the industry had stopped making payments. Now, the industry has paid NPR 1.77 million in a lump sum equivalent to five installments and has reached a position to resume regular installment payments. The industry still has 17 installments remaining.

Likewise, Nawa Nepal Plastic Industries has cleared its outstanding dues by paying NPR 123,000 in 12 installments.
