A new wave of competition has entered Nepal’s electric vehicle (EV) market with the arrival of the 2025 Geely EX5 EV Series, manufactured by China’s Geely Auto Holding Group.

Official importer LRR Motors unveiled two variants - Geely EX5 Pro and EX5 Max - for the first time at NADA Auto Show 2025.

The models come in five colour options: Snow White, Frosty Grey, Moonlight Silver, Carbon Black and Turquoise Green.

According to the company, both models are equipped with a 60.2 kWh LFP short-blade battery, which has passed rigorous tests including water, fire, bullet resistance and eight needle penetrations.

The battery is claimed to last up to 3,500 charge cycles, equivalent to around 1 million kilometres or 50 years.

With a driving range of 530 km (CLTC) and 430 km (WLTP), Geely says the EV suits Nepal’s geographical terrain well.

The EX5 series features a 160 kW (215 hp) motor, capable of accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. Designed with modern aerodynamics, the exterior includes LED headlamps, LED taillights and a stylish front grille.

The cabin houses a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital cluster, wireless charging, voice command support, a panoramic sunroof and five-level seat adjustment.

The EX5 Max variant further offers a head-up display, heated, ventilated and massage seats, along with a premium audio system. Safety features across both models include six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, AEB, blind-spot monitoring and hill-assist control.

Geely’s in-house developed ATHM Auto OS smart cockpit supports OTA updates and allows users to control the car via a mobile app.

Geely has priced the EX5 Pro at Rs 5.8 million and the EX5 Max at Rs 6.8 million for the Nepali market.

With competitive pricing, advanced technology and long driving range, the company believes the EX5 series will emerge as a strong contender in Nepal’s growing EV segment.
