Construction of the long-awaited Kohalpur–Surkhet 132 kV electricity transmission line has entered its final phase. The project has gained momentum, with preparations underway to lay transmission wires over a stretch of around 1,600 metres in the Harre area using drones.

The new transmission line will replace the existing 33 kV line that has been supplying electricity to Birendranagar since 1988. Once completed, it is expected to resolve the long-standing low-voltage problem affecting Surkhet and neighbouring districts.

According to the project office, preparations are being made to formally inaugurate the 132 kV transmission line on January 15. After it becomes operational, both industrial and domestic consumers are expected to benefit from a stable and high-quality power supply.

Local residents have welcomed the nearing completion of the project, expressing confidence that it will significantly improve the reliability and stability of the region’s electricity system.
